How it works

Start at Home. Arrive in Mérida Prepared.

Considering healthcare in another country can come with a lot of questions.

Who should I see? What will it cost? Where will I stay? How will I get to appointments? And how do I know where to begin?

We’ve created a straightforward process. Medical decisions stay with independent physicians, and you don’t have to navigate the rest alone.

  1. Step 1

    Start With Your Initial Intake

    $700 MXN

Your first step is a private virtual intake with our Client Coordination Team, led by a coordinator who worked as a nurse in Canada and now lives in Mérida.

This is our opportunity to get to know you, understand what you’re looking for and gather the information an independent physician may need for the next step.

    We’ll discuss:

    • The healthcare, procedure or specialist you’re looking for
    • Your primary concerns
    • A brief relevant medical history
    • Any diagnosis you’ve already received
    • Previous treatment, where relevant
    • Medical records or imaging you may already have
    • Your preferred timeframe
    • Your general travel needs
    • Any questions or concerns you have about receiving healthcare in Mérida

You don’t need to know exactly which specialist you need or have everything figured out before we speak.

Payment of the $700 MXN intake fee is required when booking to confirm your appointment.

That’s what we’re here to help you navigate.

Your initial intake is an information-gathering and healthcare-navigation service. It is not a medical consultation, diagnosis or nursing assessment.

Book your intake — $700 MXN
  2. Step 2

    Meet With an Independent Physician

    $2,500 MXN

If required, we’ll arrange a consultation with an independent general practitioner (GP) we work with in Mérida after your intake.

If you already know exactly what you need — an MRI or other diagnostic imaging, for example — you may not need a physician consultation, and we can move straight to coordinating it.

The consultation is provided by the physician through their own practice. Medical assessment starts there, and it is the physician’s responsibility, not ours.

Depending on your individual circumstances, the physician can:

    • Review your relevant medical history
    • Review available medical records, imaging or test results
    • Discuss your medical concerns
    • Provide medical guidance within their scope of practice
    • Determine whether additional testing may be appropriate
    • Determine whether specialist evaluation is needed
    • Provide appropriate referrals
    • Help you understand the potential healthcare pathways available in Mérida

You’ll also have an opportunity to ask questions and better understand your options before making any decisions about treatment or travel.

The physician consultation fee is $2,500 MXN. We collect it on the physician’s behalf before the consultation is scheduled.

  3. Step 3

    Understand Your Options

Following your intake and any physician consultation, you may be referred to an appropriate independent healthcare professional in Mérida.

Depending on your needs, this could include a specialist, surgeon, diagnostic facility, laboratory, rehabilitation professional or other healthcare provider.

Additional medical records, imaging, laboratory work or specialist assessment may sometimes be required before a treatment recommendation or meaningful cost estimate can be provided.

Our goal isn’t to sell you a particular procedure.

It’s to help you understand your options and find an appropriate path forward.

  4. Step 4

    Understand the Potential Costs

We know cost is an important part of deciding whether traveling for healthcare makes sense.

Once enough medical information is available, we’ll help coordinate preliminary estimates from the healthcare professionals and facilities involved in your potential care.

Medical costs vary depending on your individual circumstances, recommended treatment, physician, hospital or facility, and any additional testing or care required.

Whenever reasonably possible, our goal is to help you understand the anticipated medical costs before you commit to major travel expenses.

Medical providers and facilities establish their own fees and are paid separately from Mérida Health Connect.

  5. Step 5

    You Decide

Once you’ve received the appropriate medical information and available estimates, the decision is yours.

There is no obligation to travel to Mérida, proceed with treatment or purchase our concierge services.

If you decide not to continue, that’s okay. Your fees simply cover the services you’ve already received.

If You Do Decide to Proceed With Us

Your $700 MXN intake fee, plus an amount equal to your $2,500 MXN physician consultation fee if you had one, can be credited toward a qualifying Mérida Health Connect concierge service.

In other words, if you choose to continue your journey with us, the money you’ve already invested in getting started can be applied toward the next stage.

That’s up to $3,200 MXN credited toward your concierge fee.

  6. Step 6

Questions About the Journey

If a physician assessment is required, we’ll arrange a consultation with an independent physician for $2,500 MXN, which we collect on the physician’s behalf.

If you already know exactly what you need — an MRI or other diagnostic imaging, for example — we can often move straight to coordinating it.

Not necessarily. The $700 MXN intake is our fee. The $2,500 MXN physician consultation is the independent physician’s fee, which we collect on their behalf.

The physician consultation is only arranged if it’s required. If you already know what you need, such as an MRI, you may not need one.

Yes, if you decide to continue your journey with us.

Your $700 MXN intake fee, and an amount equal to your $2,500 MXN physician consultation fee if you had one, can be credited toward a qualifying Mérida Health Connect concierge service — up to $3,200 MXN credited toward your concierge fee.

If you decide not to continue, that’s okay too. The fees simply cover the services you’ve already received.

That’s completely fine.

Completing an intake or physician consultation does not obligate you to receive treatment or purchase concierge services.

Fees for services already provided are not refundable simply because you decide not to proceed.

That depends on the healthcare you’re receiving.

Your healthcare provider determines the medically appropriate timeframe. We then help coordinate your travel plans around that recommendation.
